Om Mani Padme Hum

Pronounced: Ohm-Ma Nee-Pod May Hum

(Prayer of Compassion)

 

A higher or ideal state of being is the ultimate goal of all spiritual discipline

 

Prayer Wheel:  sends blessings and healing with each spin in all directions.

The outside barrel: the Sanskrit symbols “Om Mani Padme Hum”

Inside the barrel: written on paper or on microfilm are the Sanskrit symbols

“Om Mani Padme Hum” and often additional mantras

 

Om Mani Padme Hum is the great spiritual sound formula called the “Mani Mantra” and is the world’s most often repeated mantra.  It is believed to be a vehicle for great personal transformation.  The essence of this mantra is that when mind and heart are united, anything is possible.

Om:       Universality and unity, generosity, maintain mental and emotional calmness, overcome obstacles

 

Mani:    Jewell in the lotus, altruistic intention to achieve enlightenment

 

Padme: Lotus, symbolizes wisdom, unfolding, knowledge, power in the physical chakras, opening the heart, perseverance and concentration.

 

Hum:    Individuality, integration between heart and mind, inseparability and purity, achieve perfection in the practice of wisdom.
